The purpose of the Year 10 excursion to Surfers Paradise is to create a major work, from primary information-gathering through immersing each students in an 'Sense of Place'. Subsequent research & design will be undertaken based on a brainstorming session post excursion.
Students were asked to identify, through a set of visual tasks, the artistic means to record a 'sense of place' by looking for look for recurring patterns or themes and searching for and examining closely visual contrasts that can be found eg: crowded or empty, large or small, old or new, natural or man-made, busy or peaceful, moving or still, sound or silence, colour or lack of, noisy or quiet, textures.
